Andy Arnold

Andy has been Artistic Director at Tron Theatre since 2008 – in late autumn this year he will be leaving to pursue a freelance career. Previously he was Founder and Artistic Director of the Arches – an international theatre, arts venue and night club which Andy established under Glasgow Central station in 1991 and ran for 17 years. Andy has staged a wide range of theatre productions – new plays and classic work, site specific and promenade…in toilet cubicles through to 2000 seater venues. His work includes the world premier stage production of James Joyce’s Ulysses which toured internationally including mainland China, a subterranean promenade production, Monaciello, at the Naples theatre festival, Scottish premieres of work by Beckett, Pinter, and Arthur Miller, and large numbers of new plays by Scottish writers. Most recent productions include David Ireland’s Cyprus Avenue, Underwood Lane by John Byrne, and La Performance – a devised piece with the Tron Theatre in collaboration with Paris theatre IVT and performed by deaf actors Ramesh Meyyappan and Emmanuelle Laborit. In autumn this year, Andy will stage his last Tron production – an adaptation of a Dickens classic by Gary McNair – Nae Expectations.
