Carys Hobbs

Carys has a first class degree in Costume design and Construction from QMU in – Edinburgh followed up by a Scenehouse course in Set design in 2013. She has been working as a Set and Costume designer since then. Her shows have ranged from Shakespeare to Dance Theatre, to large scale outdoor events, pantomime and dramas in a large number of the producing houses across Scotland.

Her most recent designs include Moorcroft – Tron theatre, Walking Tall tales -Tron Theatre Education, The Dutch Courtesan for RCS and Jack and the Beanstalk at The Byre in 2021.
Prior to 2020 her credits include Bingo! For Stella Quines & Grid Iron. Coriolanus vanishes with Fire Exit, Last Tango in Partick for NTS and CRUDE with Grid Iron, & GlasGlow for Itison. For Tron Theatre she has also designed, Shall Roger Casement Hang?, Colquhoun & Macbryde, Happy Days and Brothers Karamazov.

Carys is the Head of Design for Bard in the Botanics in Glasgow, working with the artistic director in the development of their annual productions. As part of this she mentors new industry entrants & offers educational placements too.
Carys became a Mum in 2019 & has continued working in theatre throughout this transition.
