Mhairi Anderson, Creative Strathaven

Mhairi is the founder, and one of four Directors of Creative Strathaven CIC. Creative Strathaven is a community arts organisation that facilitates creative opportunities within the local area. The organisation was established in March 2017 but opened its premises in July 2020. Creative Strathaven’s premises is multifunctional with a retail area, and separate events space that is used for events, workshops, and private hires.
Mhairi studied Fine Art BA(Hons) from 2011-2015, and an MFA Art, Society & Publics from 2015-2016 at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. She moved back to Strathaven in August 2016, and worked in various shops within the town whilst establishing Creative Strathaven in her spare time. Mhairi went back to university part-time in 2017 to study an MA in Arts Festival & Cultural Management at QMU. As a result, she has been able to apply the learnings from the course to Creative Strathaven.
